Terra Cores

This tubular installation is inspired by the core drilling samples I’ve seen from the Piceance Basin, particularly near Parachute Creek, CO. The extraordinary colorations and fossils imbedded in these cores evidence the prehistoric layering and fracturing of the Earth’s crust that still hold scientific mysteries.

I created this work out of one large piece of fabric, dyed and discharged on snow; layered, stitched and burned.
