Roan Plateau
12”h x 12”w x 3” d
At a distance, the high cliffs of the Roan Plateau undulate through the Western Slope of Colorado. It is a beautiful place of high, rugged mesas, fragile dessert orchids, and spirited wild life. I made this piece to serve as a maquette for a larger commercial installation.
I created this work with black rayon fabric that had been dyed and discharged using soy wax as resist applied with a sea sponge; then layered, stitched, and burned on the edges.
