Restored Legacy

Many wall frescoes and floor mosaics are being restored by dedicated archeology volunteers and museum staff. Here I have imagined my own reconstruction of an ancient scene from found shards.

I used the medium of rusting, both with found metals and red oxides, not just to extend the metaphor of discovering ancient remains, but also as a direct reference to iron oxide as one of Man’s original art and marking materials.
