Lakeside Morning

The early morning light bounces off the lake and through the tall reeds. Those dewy lakeside mornings rustle with waking deer and nesting birds – promising another calm day. This art quilt evokes such a morning panorama, with soft light dancing off the water’s surface, beckoning to those quiet times.

I created this work by dyeing fabric, then laying rocks and reeds on it as a resist; after discharging I painted the ground and sky around the pattern.
