The harvest moon as I’ve seen it through an Asian screen.

I made this piece by creating a large whole cloth discharge pattern using one of my formulated starch resist pastes. I then over-dyed this pattern with companion silk which I used to hand appliqué the gradation grids. I also dyed cotton thread used in embroidering the individual design motifs as they meander through the appliquéd silk.
