Colorado Turquoise
33”h x 40”w
Looking closely at a found piece of turquoise on a hike in Manassa, I see the veins of this precious stone repeat the design of curving ancient river beds that lay around me.
This art quilt was constructed of dyed and discharged rayon, overlaid with burned leatherette, rusted cottons and dyed silk fabric. I embroidered nuggets of Colorado turquoise, copper wire, and brass beads to reference some of the many other finds on that hike.
