Amber Grove
72”h x 64”w x 10”d
This tubular installation is a thought experiment on how an ancient petrified forest might appear – layers of variegated resin turned to amber. Shown here hung against the wall as a cluster of amber tree trunks. These trunks vary from 4” to 10” in diameter and of varied lengths. These amber trunks are also frequently hung from the ceiling, allowing viewers to pass among them.
These tree trunks were created with Shibori discharged fabric and shaped over foam tubes. The surfaces are embossed with grasses, twigs and leaves; layered, stitched and burned.
